Verstappen: My relationship with Horner has not changed

At the presentation of the new Red Bull RB20 car, journalists had no choice but to ask Max Verstappen questions about the difficult situation in which Christian Horner found himself. The director of Red Bull Racing is under investigation over allegations of misconduct.

There were even reports in the European press that the cause of Horner’s problems could be a conflict with Jos Verstappen, the three-time world champion’s father. Max, in turn, assures that the relationship between him and Horner has not changed.

‘I don’t know who likes to write things like that [о конфликте его отца с Хорнером], Max said at the presentation. – Everything at Christian is as usual. We have a very good relationship. We’ve seen each other a few times recently when I was working on the simulator and on Tuesday during the shooting day. We’ve achieved a lot together, so suddenly nothing changes between us.

I always try to stay neutral and not get emotional. I have a lot of other things to do. Of course we are preparing for the season, but Formula 1 is not the only thing I think about in my life. When I’m home, I spend time with my family and friends. I have my own interests and am busy with projects with a horizon of several years.

I don’t sit at home all day with my phone constantly refreshing my news feed – this is a very bad life. Like I said, I do a lot of other things that interest me and it helps me stay healthy. “I can’t constantly think about what’s happening in Formula 1. For me, this is not life.”
