The Dutch tabloid De Telegraaf reports new details about the investigation being conducted against the head of Red Bull Racing Christian Horner.
Representatives of the Austrian group, the team and Horner himself do not comment on the contents of the case, but early press reports revealed that an investigation has been launched against him in connection with allegations of “inappropriate behavior”.
British newspaper The Sun claimed that one of the team’s employees had filed a complaint against him – Horner was concerned about her behavior and “made it clear that he was dissatisfied.” The employee continued to complain about his ‘controlling’ behavior, which led to the crisis.
However, De Telegraaf has completely different information. Horner is accused of harassing one of the team’s employees, to whom he sent regular and prolonged messages of a sexual nature.
According to the publication, Horner did everything he could to prevent the matter from becoming public. His lawyers reportedly offered the employee compensation of 650 thousand pounds sterling (760 thousand euros) on February 3.
After the allegations became known to the head of the Red Bull group, Mark Mateschitz, and Oliver Mintzlaff, who is responsible for all Red Bull sports activities, the matter was made official. According to De Telegraaf, Christian Horner will not be removed from his position as team leader as he is backed by Chalerm Juvidya, who owns 51% of Red Bull’s shares.
