Before the start of the season, which will take place in warm countries, Valtteri Bottas, on the other hand, decided to freeze a little. Ahead of the tests and races in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, the desire to recharge in the cold is perhaps understandable.
Moreover, outside the Arctic Circle, in the town of Kilpisjärvi, he has a completely modern house – there he went with Tiffany Cromwell, his Australian girlfriend.
There is a lot to do in Finnish Lapland at this time of year, so Valtteri and Tiffany ride snowmobiles across the tundra, mainly go skiing, recently climbed the famous Saana waterfall and also watch the Northern Lights.
On her social media pages, Cromwell posted a very beautiful photo capturing this natural phenomenon, which received thousands of likes and countless comments.
Interestingly, one of these enthusiastic comments was left by Tiffany’s compatriot Lydia Lassila, a former champion of the Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where she won a gold medal in freestyle.
The fact is that Cromwell is not the only Australian athlete who has found a life partner in Finland: in 2007, Lydia Ierodiakonu married Lauri Lassila, a famous Finnish skier, and since then has lived in Lapland, in the town of Kittilä, where the popular winter ski resort is located.
But Valtteri won’t have to admire the harsh beauty of the northern nature for long: in the coming days, like all Formula 1 drivers, he will have to travel south as pre-season testing starts in Bahrain on February 21.
