Mercedes chief Toto Wolff has repeatedly said he will not rush to find a replacement for Lewis Hamilton as he wants to explore and weigh all options. The list of candidates for a place in the team is already quite large and constantly growing.
The list of drivers, one of whom could be George Russell’s teammate in 2025, now also includes Pierre Gasly. Pierre’s contract with Alpine expires at the end of the season, and Lawrence Barretto, a journalist on the championship’s official website, reports, citing his sources, that Gasly’s managers plan to hold negotiations in the near future with Toto Wolff.
As for Pierre himself, he spoke to the press at the presentation of the new Alpine A524 car and commented on his prospects of moving to Mercedes as follows: “I have just turned 28 years old and I am in the prime of my to live. “I know I have some good years ahead of me, so the vacancy at Mercedes doesn’t change anything for me.”
