Possible candidates to replace Horner mentioned

The investigation into Red Bull Racing boss Christian Horner continues and the press is already listing possible candidates to replace him.

Germany’s Auto Motor und Sport has listed five specialists who could lead the team if Horner is fired.

The publication considers Jonatha Whitley, the long-time manager of Red Bull Racing, to be the most likely candidate. The chances of David Coulthard, who continued to work with Red Bull after his retirement, is an ambassador for the Austrian brand and still drives Formula 1 cars during numerous Red Bull Racing demonstration races, are estimated to be quite high.

Christian Horner’s potential successor includes former British racing driver Oliver Oakes. Now he leads the Hitech team in the youth series, which he founded. He has a long-standing relationship with Red Bull and members of the Red Bull youth program often drive for Hitech.

Another potential replacement is Mattia Binotto, who was fired by Ferrari at the end of 2022. He had already completed his one-year mandatory holiday, during which he was ineligible to work in Formula 1. However, according to other information, Audi is showing interest in Binotto.

The German publication mentions another former Formula 1 team leader who was recently dismissed from his position. We are talking about Otmar Szafnauer, who previously managed the Alpine, Aston Martin/Racing Point teams and was director of operations when the Silverstone team competed in Formula 1 under the name Force India.
