Haas F1 closed the protocol for the first day of testing, but they see no reason for disappointment…
Ayo Komatsu, team manager: “For the first test day before the season, everything went well today. Not perfect, but decent.
Over two sessions we focused on long-distance tire work, collecting a lot of information. Both drivers used different strategies and we were able to compare them. We have learned a lot.
I would say we were able to achieve most of our goals for the day. We have an even bigger task package for tomorrow, but on Wednesday we completed 148 laps. We have a good basis for the tasks that need to be solved on Thursday.”
Kevin Magnussen: “I’m doing well. I feel very good. Physically the morning was not easy, but it is always nice to be back in the car after winter.
The first session was positive, we focused on the long series of laps and tried to solve last year’s problems with the tires. This is our top priority.
We are happy with what we saw this morning, but there is still a lot of work to do to explore and get to know the new car.”
Nico Hulkenberg: “During the day I drove long series of laps with a lot of fuel. It was important to gather as much information as possible about the car and its operation with tires. Last year this was our weak point, which we are trying to eliminate.
There were no technical problems, which is evident from the distance covered during the day. 82 laps is great!”
