Bottas: Driving feels even better than yesterday

Sauber believes that the second day of pre-season testing was quite productive, with the team continuing the work started yesterday and the drivers again completing many laps. Guanyu Zhou set the 7th fastest time in the morning session, but in the final report on Thursday he finished in 13th place; his teammate Valtteri Bottas finished 9th.

Bottas will take the wheel on Friday morning as the Chinese driver completes the final day of testing in Bahrain.

Valtteri Bottas: “Today’s day on the track was also quite successful; in more than 130 laps (the Finn drove 97 laps, his partner 38 laps) the team was able to collect a large amount of information. As for the riding, the feeling is quite comfortable, even better than yesterday, as I spent the second session of the day when it was cooler on the track. These conditions are even closer to what awaits us next week.

When we talk about balance, it seems to me that we have made progress and been able to improve, so of course the feeling is quite nice. However, further improvements can be made, which we will do tomorrow. We must try to work as efficiently as possible on the last day of testing.”

Guanyu Zhou: “Another day of testing is behind us and it turned out well: we were certainly able to make progress by continuing to collect valuable information and studying the car’s characteristics in increasing detail.

It was unfortunate that the morning session had to end early due to the appearance of red flags, but fortunately we were still able to complete the program in full without having to cut anything. Tomorrow we have another day where we have to try to achieve a more comfortable driving experience in preparation for the first stage of the season.”
