Sauber announced the start of a partnership with the American oil company Sunoco and the energy giant Energy Transfer, which controls its economy.
Historically, the Sunoco brand has been closely associated with motorsport and is mainly associated with the American racing series Can-Am, NASCAR and IndyCar, but the company has also worked with Formula 1 teams. But that was over half a century ago and now this name returns to the World Championship for the first time since 1971.
In particular, the cooperation agreement between the parties stipulates that Sunoco logos will appear on the team’s cars, as well as on the overalls of Valtteri Bottas and Gongyu Zhou during the Miami and Las Vegas stages. Energy Transfer logos will be seen on the C44 during the US Grand Prix in Austin, as the company is headquartered in Dallas, Texas.
Alessandro Aluni Bravi, team representative: “We are pleased to welcome Sunoco and Energy Transfer as our partners. As a long-time motorsport fan, the Sunoco brand evokes strong emotions in me because of its strong association with the world of motor racing.
It evokes memories of the golden age of endurance racing and has lately been associated with America’s most popular series, NASCAR and IndyCar. We are honored to partner with this company on the race weekends in Miami and Las Vegas, and in Austin we will partner with Energy Transfer.”
