Mercedes chief Toto Wolff said he would not rush to find a replacement for Lewis Hamilton as he wanted to consider all available options. At the tests in Bahrain, George Russell said he knew who had already called Toto about a 2025 contract.
George Russell: “Toto and I have already talked about this subject because I spent a lot of time with him in the winter. It was fun to see the racer names pop up on his phone screen. They even called me and wrote messages.
It was quite interesting. The team is now in a good position to start the next chapter.”
When asked what qualities he would like to see in a new teammate, George said: “I think it is important that there is harmony between teammates, because that has a direct impact on the engineers and the entire team. But ultimately the decision is up to Toto and the Board of Directors.”
