Rivals Red Bull Racing believe the champion team will maintain its lead in the new season. At the FIA press conference on Friday, Max Verstappen was asked whether he thought the RB20 was better than last year.
The current world champion joked in response: “If it were worse than last year, that would mean we did very badly!
Of course our new car is better than last year, but I think every team will tell you that their car is now better than last year. We believe the RB20 has great potential, but it still needs to be unlocked.”
When asked to comment on the investigation into Christian Horner, Max replied: “I can’t talk about such things. I prefer to concentrate on my own performances because that is my day job. Of course it will be better for everyone if the situation is resolved, but this is all I can say on this matter.
All team members who are now on the track are focused on their work, on the car. Everyone is working to make the RB20 faster.”
