Norris: We can’t say the tests were perfect

On Friday, Lando Norris was in fourteenth place on the final test day, but that does not seem to bother him, although the McLaren driver is willing to admit that there is still a lot of work to be done.

Lando Norris: “Overall I am satisfied, although I cannot say that these three days were perfect. We’ve certainly had a lot of problems, and that’s exactly what we wanted to avoid, but it’s better to have difficulties now than next week.

But the mood is not bad, because our car has clearly improved in some areas, although a lot still needs to be done in other areas. However, we are still noticeably behind the leaders and we must try to at least narrow this gap, and that is what we will do in the coming weeks.

The mood among the team is excellent, which was also the case in the second half of last year, but expectations are obviously higher as we strive to achieve a significant improvement in results. In any case, it is hardly possible to start the season worse than last year. Everyone works hard, the team works together and I’m happy with how everything is going.

It is still difficult to assess the balance of power, but I can say with certainty that we are quite behind both Ferrari and Red Bull. But McLaren is also in a good position somewhere in the next group of teams, although the two leaders have a noticeable lead over the rest.

Tests are of course good, but they are not the most interesting, and I like qualifying and racing. When the season starts the atmosphere becomes more intense and much more important things happen, so I’m really looking forward to next week.”
