Bottas: We have prepared well enough for the race

Sauber drivers Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou completed a total of 113 laps on the final pre-season test day in Bahrain. Valtteri only completed 28 laps due to technical problems with the car. The team resolved the issues and when it was Zhou’s turn, he was able to complete the planned program.

Guanyu Zhou (3rd): “We had another productive day, focusing on working on a long series of laps, covering two race distances. We ran the program and experimented with different settings and configurations to confirm the findings.

It is difficult to estimate the full potential, since we have a new car. In the coming days the team will continue working to prepare for the coming weekend. However, we will find out our position compared to the others after the first qualifying and race.

We feel we are well prepared and will use the remaining days to learn and improve in small ways.”

Valtteri Bottas (18th): “Today turned out to be more difficult than the previous one. The first time was lost due to red flags and at the end of the session I had to stop as a precaution, which prevented me from completing more laps and testing a number of things. Nevertheless, the priority points of the program were fulfilled.

We learned a lot about the C44 and feel like we are pretty well prepared for next week’s race. It is difficult to assess the true balance of power, but the team is confident in the data collected. Now we have to analyze everything, draw conclusions and improve for the first race.”
