Charles Leclerc topped protocol on the final day of pre-season testing in Bahrain, setting the best lap on the soft C4 compound in 1:30.322 seconds. His teammate Carlos Sainz drove the first half of the day and drove his best lap in the C3, recording the ninth fastest time.
Charles Leclerc (1st): “We had three good days, drove a lot of laps and tested a lot. The car responds exactly to all changes as we wanted.
Now it is very difficult to estimate the balance of power, but it feels as if we have a more effective car at our disposal than at the beginning of last year. Now all attention is focused on the first phase of the season. I can’t wait to be back on the track next week.”
Carlos Sainz (9th): “Today I did the last laps before the first race. A productive day, but a pity that red flags appeared again, forcing us to interrupt work.
I enjoyed every lap I rode today. I tested many different machine configurations to gather as much information as possible. Now we have everything we need for the first race.
The car works and I am happy with that. I am proud of the entire team that was able to carry out the tests so well.”
