Alpine drivers Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon completed 47 and 55 laps respectively on the final day of testing in Bahrain. The French team summarized its preparations for the season and noted that the car has great potential.
Pierre Gasly (15th): “We have done a lot of testing and now we have an important week ahead of us, in which we have to analyze all the information collected to better understand the new concept car. It is crucial to understand how we can optimize the A524 and get more out of it.
The tests proved difficult for me due to the time loss yesterday and today. Red flags on the second day and problems with the car today meant that I lost the chance to do a few more laps at the end of the day.
However, the team worked productively all three days, and this is the most important thing. I’m definitely excited for the first race.”
Esteban Ocon (17th): “I don’t know what positions we are in, because during the tests we focused on solving our own problems. In three days we did everything we planned, and the car showed high reliability. Hats off to our employees on base. It’s not easy to run tests without technical issues, but they did a great job and we succeeded.
We have a new concept car, so there is still a lot to learn. We have great potential to improve. The more laps we drive, the faster the car becomes.
We had the strongest pre-season tests since I started playing for the team. This doesn’t mean we’ll be the fastest, but it’s a good start. We have to keep working.”
