Carlos Sainz: I am a free agent until 2025

Carlos Sainz replaced Charles Leclerc at the wheel of Ferrari in the afternoon session of the first day of testing in Bahrain. Before that, the Spanish driver spoke to reporters and answered questions about his plans for 2025, when he no longer has a contract with Ferrari.

“I think all drivers who are out of contract at the end of this season are looking at all available options and talking to all teams to understand their structures, expected progress and current form,” said Carlos. – At the moment my priority is the winter tests. We only have three days, so we shouldn’t waste time and work. After that, there are many more opportunities to think about everything and make a decision.

There are still 24 races ahead, but it is clear that the last stages will be emotional because I have to leave behind people with whom we have worked very well. But we will leave this emotional component for the end of the year, and now it is important to work as best as possible. I know that Frederic Vasseur and the whole team will give me their full support as we fight for the title this season. We will do our best together in our last season.

I hope I have many more years of racing ahead of me. Let’s see what the future has in store for me. I’m a free agent for 2025 and have no idea where I’ll play. I need time to make a decision.

All options are open and I will try to choose the best option for myself. Not only for 2025, but also for the next three to four years. “I will do my best to create a successful project in Formula 1.”
