Bottas: The car has become more stable in fast corners

Valtteri Bottas has completed the morning session of the first day of testing in Bahrain. The Kick Sauber driver completed 67 laps and then commented on the differences between the new car and last year’s.

“From the first lap it became clear that the car is better than last year’s C43,” Racingnews365 quotes Valtteri Bottas. – We saw what we predicted when we worked on the simulator. The car feels more or less as it should.

It is clear that we have made progress with the new car over the winter. However, the most important question remains: how much the others have managed to improve. We’ll know next week.

In the coming days we will fine-tune even further and look for more speed. We didn’t think about lap times today.”

When asked what the main areas for improvement were, Valtteri said: “The biggest changes I have noticed are in the downforce in fast corners and in the stability of the car. We have had problems with this over the past two years. I also immediately noticed that the car had less resistance on the straights, which was a problem last year.

We are definitely in better shape. The rear of the car feels more stable in fast corners. This was a problem last year and left us with few options to tune the car. Apparently the new machine allows for a more flexible approach to choosing settings. We have a good basis for further work.”
