Before the race weekend in France, Charles Leclerc explained why he loves the Le Castellet circuit and emphasized that he hopes to be successful at this stage of the championship.
Charles Leclerc: “I started in motorsport on a go-kart track just 60 km from Le Castellet, and I have very good memories of these places. That’s why I consider the French Grand Prix to be my home race to some extent.
Before I started my Formula 1 career, I came here very often and I always like to come back here. By the way, I also drove on this memorable go-kart track last week.
When we talk about the upcoming weekend, I hope it will be a success for us. In Austria we had a very important victory, because there were five difficult races before it, when everything was against me. It was very important to take a few points from Max Verstappen, but as far as the French Grand Prix is concerned, I will refrain from predicting for now.
In the previous two years Ferrari had problems on this track, we couldn’t find the best approach to work with rubber. I hope of course that we can perform successfully again and that I have a fast car, because it is fundamental for us to keep earning points. I hope this time is better than last year.
Of course we will do everything we can to avoid losing points again. I am 38 points behind the leader, this is a significant gap, but our goal remains the same: the championship title.
