Riccardo: If something makes you angry, it’s even good

Daniel Ricciardo’s future prospects at McLaren have been one of the hottest topics in recent times, and talks like this are likely to continue in the French Grand Prix paddock. The Australian even had to make a special statement, assuring fans that he would not leave McLaren or say goodbye to Formula 1.

In France, Daniel commented on the situation in a conversation with TV reporters.

Daniel Riccardo: “All this does not cause me any negative emotions, because during the season, of course, both good and bad things can be written and said about you. Of course, if you have good results, things will be much better.

I understand that what happens on the track largely dictates the tone of what they say about me, but I want to make it clear that I care deeply about the results and still do everything that is asked of me to succeed.

I think every time I got a chance to win a race, I got wins. And I know that if opportunities like that arise again, I will win races again. This is what I want more than anything and more than anyone.

As for my statement, everything is simple: there are always some rumors and talks are already starting that I will leave Formula 1. But this is not in my plans, I have a lot of unfinished business in this championship, and at McLaren and I want to see them to the end. Of course I am not going to back down in the face of difficulties, it is very important for me to turn the tide.

Negative emotions are also a type of energy that can be directed in the right direction. If something makes you angry, sometimes it’s even good. It is on the days of failure that I feel how much what is happening excites me, and I really want to achieve improvements. All this motivates even more, helps to give 100%, tempers the character, etc.

In France, our team is planning to introduce some new products, and as this weekend will be held on the standard schedule, we have more time to train to evaluate their effectiveness – this is a plus. Although I like sprint races because we go to the start twice on a weekend like that, and I really like the early stages of the race, the track struggle before turn 1 and all that.
