Stella: Our goal is to stay on the upward trend

McLaren will hope that the team can continue what it started last year and not only maintain the positions it held then, but also move higher.

Lando Norris: “Finally we waited for the first race of the season! I’m ready to start my sixth championship with McLaren. We ended the previous season with good results and let’s hope we can keep the momentum going.

It was wonderful to be behind the wheel of a Formula 1 car again last week, testing the MCL38 went well, which is always good for the start of a race weekend. We have learned a lot, but of course we have to keep working to really get to know the new car.

A big thank you to the team for all their hard work getting the MCL38 ready for the season and now it’s time to get on the start line!”

Oscar Piastri: “My second season in Formula 1 is starting, which I am very happy with. It’s nice that I spent quite a bit of time behind the wheel last week and that the car left a good impression. We’ve learned a lot about it, but only now will we really test what we’re capable of compared to our rivals.

The team has done a great job outside of the winter season and everyone is excited to be back on the track. The coming season promises to be very interesting!”

Andrea Stellateam leader: “Last week we worked productively on three-day tests, optimizing the MCL38’s settings and testing its reliability ahead of the first stage of the season.

The entire team worked tirelessly during the offseason to build the MCL38 and prepare for the first race. We have a long championship ahead of us with 24 rounds and our aim is to continue the upward trajectory of last year.

Lando and Oscar worked closely with the engineers for several months and went into the season well prepared. The drivers are in a fighting spirit, but we are not going to make any predictions about our competitive position as the test results are difficult to interpret, but we will strive to work as efficiently as possible in all areas. We’re just happy that racing is starting again.”
