Valtteri Bottas: I hope people haven’t forgotten my achievements

Valtteri Bottas’ contract with Sauber expires at the end of the season and the team may not renew it. Valtteri himself expects that his employers will not only focus on recent results, but also on past performance when making decisions.

“I expect the driver market to move quite quickly, because many drivers are out of contract, including me,” said Valtteri Bottas in Bahrain. “I want to start the season well and then we’ll see.”

Of course, people around me are already exploring the possibilities and looking for the best options for me. All I have to do is drive the car. My priority, as I said before, is participation in the Audi project. For me, this is a tempting and ideal option.

I feel like I don’t have to prove anything, but in sports you have to do it all the time because people have short memories. We had a hard time last year and I wasn’t as visible on the track because I sometimes struggled at the back of the pack.

I hope people haven’t forgotten what I’ve already achieved: 67 podiums, 20 pole positions and so on. There are not many riders that will be available on the market that can boast such numbers.”
