New Haas F1 boss Ayo Komatsu is aiming for eighth place in the constructors’ championship at the end of the season…
Ayo Komatsu: “I’m going to lead the team in a different way [чем Гюнтер Штайнер]. It’s great that I know people, their strengths and weaknesses, that we understand each other well. We have a very good basis to start with.
Last year we were behind due to technical factors. I understand why we couldn’t improve – at least I think so. I will, together with our boys, try to do everything possible to improve the situation.
We don’t want to be tenth at the end of the season. We would like to finish eighth, but to do that we have to get ahead of two teams.
This is not just a goal for the season, it is very important that we come together as a unit, as a team, move forward and gradually improve. This is exactly what I strive for.
Judging by the test results and the work on the simulator, there is still a lot of work to be done, but we have a good car to fight with on the track. We didn’t work on the speed at all during the testing in qualifying, we’ll see how everything goes this weekend.”
