Leclerc: We have to work on the balance of the car

Ferrari drivers Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc posted the fourth and ninth fastest times respectively in the second practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix. Both Scuderia drivers noted that the optimal settings for the car had yet to be found, but overall the result was as expected.

Carlos Sainz (4th): “The training turned out to be more difficult than the tests, because the temperature was lower and the wind was stronger. This made it more difficult for the car to maintain stability on the track. We don’t know what programs our opponents were using, but in terms of competitiveness we are about where we expected.

I’m happy with how we spent Thursday because we were able to complete the whole program and do tire testing. Now we need to analyze the collected data and prepare for qualification. I’m looking forward to Friday – it looks like we’re in for a tough fight!”

Charles Leclerc (9th): “The first day is over. I don’t have much to say other than it’s difficult to assess our competitiveness, but that’s no surprise.

It’s great to get back behind the wheel and start the season with everyone. We still have a lot to do, especially in the area of the balance sheet. Let’s see where we are tomorrow.”
