Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are pleased with the speed of the car shown in the second practice session of the Bahrain Grand Prix. However, Aston Martin drivers did not give a prediction for Friday’s qualifying results.
Fernando Alonso (3rd): “Today we focused on working on our program and we are happy with the results achieved.
In the first training session I used Medium tires, and in the second session I focused on the Soft compound. We learned even more about the car and made some good adjustments to the settings that we are happy with.
It is important not to read too much into the training protocol at this stage as lap times are influenced by many different factors and variables. However, I am positive and looking forward to the first qualifying of the season.”
Lance walk (8th): “I think we made a big step forward in the second training. The car drove well after we changed the settings. Overall a good day.
I couldn’t fully appreciate the pace over the long distance, but the car drove well, which is positive. Of course, it’s too early to draw conclusions because we don’t know how much fuel the rivals had in their tanks. We will know much more after qualifying and the race.”
