The Alpine riders were not too fast on Thursday, but they expect to be even better in qualifying tomorrow…
Pierre Gasly (16th): “On the day of the first training we tried different settings and achieved positive results. In the first session, with warmer weather and strong winds, it was more difficult to control the car. But we changed something and in the evening I felt the car better.
So far we are not as fast as we expected, but with every trip to the track we understand the car better. We have to be patient and get the best out of her.”
Esteban Ocon (18th): “A productive day, we worked on various programs and collected information about the car.
The first session was difficult because of the wind, but in the second the car behaved better. It seems that in cooler weather we have more control over the situation. That is good news, because qualifying and the race will take place under such conditions.
We are more competitive in the long series, but we need to improve the fast laps to perform well in qualifying.”
