Williams drivers note that the team has been able to make progress compared to last season, but not all questions have been answered so far.
Alex Albon (11th): “Our pace in the first practice caused some surprise, but in the second we were able to show good speed on Medium tires, but we lost that when we installed soft tires. Our direct rivals’ cars turned out to be a little faster than I would have liked, especially Haas, so we need to understand how we can improve.
The car makes a slightly different impression, but so far our pace leaves a lot to be desired, so we have to keep working. “Moreover, it seems that all teams have made a big step forward and although it is still too early to draw conclusions, we have to put a lot of effort into understanding the characteristics of our car.”
Logan Sargent (13th): “The car seems to be performing much better than in testing, which means Alex and our whole team went in the right direction last Friday. Overall, I’m pleased with the FW46’s on-track performance and its balance. There is still some fine-tuning to be done, but I have confidence in the car, although we still have to see what pace we can achieve tomorrow.
“It’s good that my second season in Formula 1 starts this weekend and I’m looking forward to making steady progress and achieving consistent results this year.”
