Both Sauber drivers dropped out of the race in the first qualifying session in Bahrain, but they were not the last…
Valtteri Bottas (16th): “Today we were not in the positions we expected. The positive is that everything worked well on the car. Unfortunately we simply didn’t have enough speed in the decisive laps.
Already in the last practice we realized that it would be difficult to get out of the second session, so we decided to concentrate on the race.”
Zhou Guanyu (17th): “Unfortunately we did not achieve the result we expected. It’s been a difficult weekend so far, we haven’t been able to find the optimal settings and we knew we might have problems on a fast lap.
My lap wasn’t perfect, but it was very difficult to gain back at least a tenth. It is clear that the start of the season is not easy for us, but we have to focus on ourselves and find ways to achieve more.”
