Domenicali hinted at rotation of European venues

The 2024 season includes a record number of stages: 24, but there are even more people who want to get on the Formula 1 calendar. The head of Formula 1, Stefano Domenicali, while answering questions from Liberty Media investors, made it clear that the championship could rotate the European stages from 2026 so that more circuits are represented on the calendar, but without a dramatic increase in the number of breeds.

Stefano Domenicali: “By 2026 we will have held many Grands Prix, especially in Europe, and we are considering different options. Signing the contract to organize the race in Madrid was very important for us because it showed that there was a lot of interest in Formula 1 in Europe, although many felt that we should leave Europe due to the lack of interest. But we have proven that this is not the case.

In 2026 you will see something interesting. We are currently in discussions with promoters in Europe and will be able to announce something soon.

The race in Madrid will be a big boost as the stage will be held next to the exhibition center and will offer fans an incredible experience. But in Spain the focus is on Barcelona and there is a great desire to organize the Grand Prix here in the coming years.”
