In Bahrain, the Red Bull Racing drivers secured a winning double for their team, but while Max Verstappen, who took his 55th victory, was in good spirits, his teammate, despite finishing second, expressed some concern about the less then Ideal behavior of the car.
Max Verstappen (1st): “Incredible race! I think everything went even better today than we expected. The car made an excellent impression and it was a pleasure to drive on tires of any composition.
I think we had a big pace advantage today, so it was a real pleasure to ride. Problems were avoided, so the year is off to a great start – it couldn’t have been better!
It was fun and comfortable to drive, and the atmosphere on such days is always special, because it doesn’t happen often that everything goes perfectly and you feel one with the car.
The season is very long and Formula 1 is the best track in the world. So I’m going to rest for a few days and then we’ll get back to work.”
Sergio Perez (2nd): “I think this is the maximum we can achieve today. The race is not easy, it was difficult to control tire wear, and we have to analyze a large amount of information collected today – this is important because it will be useful for us during the championship. But overall the start to the season was excellent.
The difficulties were due to the fact that the car was sliding on tires of any composition. We had problems with braking and bike handling, which makes it very difficult on a track like this. But I have no doubt that we will analyze everything that happened today and try to draw conclusions in preparation for the race in Jeddah.
The team is gaining momentum and we must continue to perform at a high level in the next stages of the championship.”
