Marco will not stop Verstappen from leaving

Red Bull Racing started the season confidently and won a double at the Bahrain Grand Prix, but off the track the crisis within the team continues to grow. We said that manager Christian Horner had a conversation with Max Verstappen’s management, and it turned out that there were good reasons for this.

The fact is that Jos Verstappen, Max’s father, was seen in Bahrain on Sunday evening in the company of Toto Wolff, which immediately gave rise to a wave of rumors about the Dutch driver’s possible switch to Mercedes to replace Lewis Hamilton.

Against this background, German publication F1-Insider reported that Verstappen’s contract contains a clause according to which Max can leave Red Bull Racing early if Helmut Marko is no longer part of the team. Moreover, the publication quotes Marco saying that he will not interfere with Verstappen if he decides to leave the team.

“If Max decides to leave, I won’t stand in his way,” Marco said.

Events in Red Bull Racing are developing rapidly. Less than a month ago, Helmut Marko ruled out the possibility of Max not completing his contract, which runs until 2028, and now Christian Horner is holding emergency meetings with the driver’s representatives.

In Jeddah, Max Verstappen will speak to the press and there is no doubt that he will be asked to comment on Helmut Marko’s words and the rumors of the past few days.
