The first ever Formula 1 Grand Prix of Saudi Arabia took place in 2021 at the Jeddah circuit, which was originally planned as a temporary circuit. The race was due to move to a permanent circuit in Qiddiya, but due to construction delays, Jeddah will continue to host stages until at least 2027.
Today the organizers presented a project for a new route in Qiddiya. The circuit is called Qiddiya Speed Park, the project is being developed by the architectural firm of Hermann Tilke and former Formula 1 racer Alex Wurz is a consultant.
The exact length of the circle is not yet known, but it is already known that it will comprise 21 turns. The first turn has already been given the name “Blade” – the height difference corresponds to the height of a 20-story building.
Part of the track runs next to Falcom, the world’s tallest roller coaster at Qiddiya Six Flags. Another interesting feature of the circuit is that the traditional grandstands will be replaced by a variety of viewing platforms and balconies.
