Christian Horner: It’s time to end this story

During the second phase of the season, Christian Horner, while remaining at the helm of Red Bull Racing, said it was time to put an end to the saga surrounding the allegations against him. Meanwhile, the team employee who accused him has been suspended, although she continues to receive her full salary.

“This story has been terribly blown out of proportion. For various reasons it is attracting increasing interest from the press, but the time has come to put an end to it,” BBC Sport quoted Horner as saying. He refused to give a reason for the employee’s suspension, but according to BBC Sport it was because she had been found to be dishonest.

“The reality is that a complaint has been made and it has been assessed by a specially appointed panel who have appointed an independent barrister, one of the most respected barristers in the country, to conduct the proceedings,” Horner continued. “It took time to gather and study all the facts. He analyzed everything, came to certain conclusions and then rejected the complaint.

As I understand it, we are now moving on and Red Bull is treating this in the same way. I was lucky, I have a wonderful family and my wife gave me great support, even though it was very difficult for us. But stop interfering in my family’s affairs, we need to move on and focus on the most important thing we are here for. It’s time to go racing.

Every company has an established procedure for handling complaints; this process is confidential and only concerns specific individuals and the company itself. For this reason, I am not at liberty to comment out of respect for both the company and the other party. Even if I wanted to talk about these topics, I don’t have that right. The only reason the story got so much attention was because of the leak…”

Horner also commented on the words of Jos Verstappen, who publicly stated that the head of Red Bull Racing should resign: “I spoke to Jos after the Bahrain Grand Prix, and we agreed that this story should remain in the past , and we will agree on matters relating to the future, because it is in the public interest. We are both interested in his son performing to the best of his ability.”
