Albon: In qualifying we have to aim for eleventh place

Williams drivers believe the team needs to continue working on the settings, although both say the car has made a very good impression from the very start of the weekend.

Alex Albon (14th): “I don’t even know who is in which positions yet, but the car made a good impression from the first time on the track. We made some changes to the settings before the second session and these were effective in most cases, but not in all cases.

In preparing for tomorrow we have to try to find the optimal approach, but it seems that the pace on the long series of laps is generally in order, and I am quite optimistic.

Our car is good, and although the results are, as always, very tight, working on the track gives me pleasure, because the track itself is simply cool!

If we talk about the upcoming qualifications, I am afraid that my words will seem boring: we will try to rise to the top in the middle group of teams, i.e. you have to be in 11th position or around it. As for the race, let’s hope it won’t go without incident, and this will help us.”

Logan Sargent (16th): “I don’t know how the team evaluates the results of the day, but in my opinion we are moving in the right direction, and this is the most important thing. With each lap I felt more and more comfortable behind the wheel, and as the second session progressed it became clear what changes needed to be made to the settings to be well prepared for tomorrow.

We have another practice and qualifying on Friday, and in my opinion I can gradually reveal the potential of the FW46. The difference between the Bahrain track and the Jeddah track is huge, so it feels like I’m having to get used to driving all over again, but I like the way the car works – there’s just a few things I need to work on working to get closer to the ideal balance.”
