Fernando Alonso led the protocol of the second free practice session of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. The Aston Martin driver noted the high speed of the car, but asked not to draw far-reaching conclusions from the results of training and wait for qualifying. Lance Stroll set the sixth fastest time, losing half a second to his teammate.
Fernando Alonso (1st): “Good day. It’s nice to be the fastest in every session, but it’s just training so we have to keep our feet on the ground and focus on ourselves.
We don’t know what engine settings others were using or how much fuel they had in their tanks, so don’t overstock the times shown. But the day turned out to be positive.
There were no problems with the car, the team followed the program and continued to fine-tune the AMR24 settings to get more speed out of the car.”
Lance walk (6th): “It’s always interesting to drive on this track; it’s fast and quite difficult.
We had a positive day and showed high pace on different tire compounds in both sessions. However, these are just training courses and we do not know what programs the others followed.
The team will study the data collected and in qualifying we will try to confirm a strong start to the weekend.”
