Spanish pilot “Ferrari » Carlos Sainz will miss the rest of the second stage of the Formula 1 championship – the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, the press service of the Italian team reports.
The 29-year-old rider was hospitalized Friday with appendicitis and will undergo surgery. The Spaniard will be replaced by Briton Oliver Birman, Ferrari reserve driver.
“The Ferrari family wishes Carlos a speedy recovery,” the team said in a statement.
On Friday, the drivers will begin the third free practice and qualifying sessions. The race at the Jeddah circuit will take place on Saturday.
