In 2026, Audi will join Formula 1 as a power source supplier for the Sauber team. Initially, the German carmaker planned to buy out 75% of the team’s shares by 2026, but today Audi released an official statement confirming the buyout of 100% of Sauber’s shares. This means that a fifth factory team will appear in Formula 1.
Oliver HofmannMember of the Board of Directors for Technical Development at Audi: “I am convinced that by joining forces and consolidating 100% of the shares of the Sauber Group, we will accelerate the preparations for 2026.
I am pleased that we have agreed on a partnership with Andreas Seidl, who will take on the responsibilities of CEO of the Audi F1 team. He is ideally suited to implement our ambitious plan.
With his extensive experience in senior positions at car companies and Formula 1 teams, he will make an important contribution to the Audi Formula 1 project.”
