Pirelli believes the optimal race strategy in Jeddah is one pit stop…
Mario IsolaPirelli: “In qualifying we once again witnessed the talent of Max Verstappen. The Red Bull driver was fastest in all three sessions, with a confident lead over his rivals. The fight behind him was very exciting. It’s worth noting how much faster the cars have become: on the same tires and with virtually unchanged regulations compared to last season, today’s pole time is almost eight-tenths faster than in 2023.
It is difficult to expect surprises in terms of strategy. In Jeddah the usual strategy is one pit stop. The only question is which tires to use with the C2. On paper, the fastest strategy is to use C3 at the start and switch to C2 between laps 18 and 25.
Another option is to start on Hard and then pit between laps 25 and 32 and switch to Soft. This could give an advantage during the safety car, which is very likely at this circuit.”
