Alpine started the season unsuccessfully; for the second weekend in a row, both team riders dropped out of the race in the first part of qualifying…
Esteban Ocon (17th): “Difficult qualifying, the car still lacks efficiency. I did my best, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to move on to the second session. We continue to work on getting more speed out of the car.
As always we will fight in the race and try to get a good start. This weekend we have good speed on the straights, so we’ll see how everything goes tomorrow. Now it is extremely important for us to collect as much information as possible about the car.”
Pierre Gasly (18th): “Unfortunately, qualifying proved difficult for us. The first lap went well, I did my best, but there was simply no speed. We need to understand why this is happening and find a solution for the future.”
