Helmut Marko’s future as Red Bull’s advisor is doubtful. He faces disqualification on charges of involvement in the leaking of confidential information from the investigation into team manager Christian Horner.
On Saturday, Marco will meet in Jeddah with Oliver Mintzlaff, who is responsible for the group’s sports programme, where he can find out more about the decision. If he is fired, Toto Wolff said in an interview with Austria’s ORF that he is willing to bring Marco in – to the position of non-executive director, once held by Niki Lauda.
Toto Wolff: “We miss our old talisman. If Helmut is fired, we’ll just hire him. He is the same age as Nicky, but does not wear a red baseball cap.
Hellmuth was and remains our favorite enemy. But he is a real racer. If they lose Hellmuth, it will certainly be a loss for Red Bull and the team.
Max’s transition? We have vacancies in 2025 and 2026, but Max goes where the fastest car is, and today that is Red Bull.
Negotiation? We have been communicating for 10 years, since Max competed in Formula 1. I have a good relationship with Jos and Max, but this does not mean that changes will take place in the short term.”
