After the Austrian Grand Prix, Daniel Ricciardo posted a statement on social media to dispel rumors that he would be leaving McLaren at the end of the season. In France, the head of the British team, Andreas Seidl, confirmed his rider’s words.
Andreas Seidl: “From our point of view, no additional confirmation was needed. It has always been clear to us that we have a valid contract and our sole aim is to work with Daniel to find the few missing speed percentages. That’s what we focus on.
Daniel’s statement came as no surprise. It just confirmed that we are united and stick to the position we outlined a few months ago. So no surprises.”
Daniel Ricciardo said he was unable to fully understand the characteristics of the MCL36, but Seidl said this did not prevent the team from finalizing the car: “The development of a Formula 1 car is always based on a combination of collected data and their analysis, and feedback from the riders to help you understand the limitations that keep the rider from going faster.
When we talk about the feedback we get from Lando and Daniel, it’s not much different than what limitations the car has. I wouldn’t call it a problem.”
