100 minutes before the start: commentary by Charles Leclerc

Charles Leclerc starts second in Jeddah and hopes to fight for victory…

Charles Leclerc: “Today it is important to have a good start and show a high race pace, which I missed so much in the last stage. We know there is a lot of work to be done. Today it is important to have a flawless race – I hope we can keep Sergio Perez behind.

DRS is very effective on this track and if I can stay in the DRS zone behind Max Verstappen I will try to fight, although I think Red Bull has a higher race pace than us.
If we look at the odds realistically, we need chaos in the race to win today. But we can’t hope for that, so we’d better focus on our own performance. We will try to use the optimal strategy and see what we can do on track.

The start will be interesting and I have been making good starts since the end of last season. I hope that I will ride side by side with Max at least until the first corner.

I recently spoke with Carlos Sainz Sr. and he told me that Carlos Jr. is on the mend, which is great. He may still be on the track today.

Oliver Berman did a great job: he had to make his surprise Formula 1 debut in a Ferrari on a difficult track. He had to learn a lot in just a few hours. He’s excited and that’s good to see. I hope we can both bring a great result to the team.”
