The novelties that Mercedes prepared for the French Grand Prix did not allow the expected progress to be made. Lewis Hamilton believes it is important not to repeat the mistakes made in 2023.
Lewis Hamilton: “It’s great. You drive a lap and then hear from the team that you are 1.7 seconds slower. Then you do a really good lap, hear you’re 1.1 seconds behind and say “Wow.”
I can not change it. We work as hard as we can, every weekend we bring little new things in an attempt to get more out of the car, but sometimes they don’t work.
I said at the beginning of the year that I am trying to understand this car better. I’m working very closely with the team to say what I do and don’t want to see from this car in next year’s car.
I’m trying to get the situation under control somehow … Hopefully the car will get better later this year, but it’s important that with the 2023 car we can fight for the lead.”
