Alex Albon: From my point of view the season is not boring at all

Max Verstappen won the first two stages of 2024 in dominant style. Williams driver Alex Albon thinks it would be wrong to call the season boring because of this, as the battle in the middle group of teams is very tight.

Alex Albon: “In a way, I’m offended by comments that Max is making the season boring, because that’s not actually the case, at least from my point of view. If we take Max out of the equation, we have the best grid and the tightest battle of the entire pack in Formula 1 history. And even taking Max into account, the battle by the entire pack is still incredibly exciting.

It may seem like nothing is happening because everyone is focused on the leader. But it’s very tense behind him. For example, in Bahrain we pitted just two laps later than necessary and lost six positions in one go. The battle is very fierce.”

Alex Albon added that the new Williams car was an important step forward, but that the rivals have made no less progress compared to last year: “Last year’s FW45 had a lot of problems. With the wind at our backs flying became a real nightmare, but this year we have taken a huge step forward.

However, it should be added that the rest has also increased. The teams occupying positions at the head of the middle group took a step forward, and the teams closing the middle group took an even bigger step. And in the end everyone was on the same level.”
