Liam Lawson: My future is still uncertain

When Liam Lawson completed five Grands Prix last year as a replacement for the injured Daniel Ricciardo and scored a point in Singapore, achieving AlphaTauri’s best result of the season so far, his future in Formula 1 seemed assured. But now the New Zealander says this is not entirely true.

Liam Lawson: “There is no deadline, no plan, no information. My future is not yet determined. I just have to stay in shape and hope the opportunity presents itself again.

Now I work on the simulator and appear on the podium as a reserve pilot. But I really want to get behind the wheel again, and this is a great motivator. Any driver at this level is confident enough to compete in Formula 1, but it’s one thing if you only dream about it, and quite another if you’ve already tried. I have already had a taste of the big races and see things from a different perspective.”

Many believe Lawson will replace Yuki Tsunoda at RB after the season.
