Over the weekend, Esteban Ocon failed to get the most out of the car – he doesn’t understand what is happening…
Esteban Ocon: “Qualifying was terrible. We should be battling for sixth or seventh place, but at some point in practice three I finished last. I don’t understand what’s going on. In Austria I finished fifth and here in the free races I ended up in the last rows.
We have tried to understand why the results are not as expected, but there is no answer. There is probably a fundamental problem with the machine.
Our novelties work as intended, but the machine’s behavior changes at every stage. Like a roller coaster. At Silverstone the car was not competitive but worked well in Austria. She either works or she doesn’t.
In the past, when problems like this happened, after one or two Grand Prix, we found a broken part, changed it and everything got better. But now we can’t find the reason. Of course, in the battle for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship, such failures cannot be afforded. A solution has to be found.”
