The Williams cars have been particularly sensitive to wind this year, which has prevented the team from performing better in qualifying…
Alex Albon (15th): “The car was fine today, but the wind got stronger and made everything complicated. During the weekend we were lucky that the wind was relatively weak, but during qualifying it got stronger and really hindered.
The team has done a great job, the updated car allows us to fight for positions in the second part of qualifying – this is what we were counting on. After the opponent’s penalties, I’ll start 13th, we’ll see what happens in the race.”
Nicholas Latific (20th): “There were already positive signals during the first training sessions. You still have to get used to the new car, but the team has really taken a step forward.
I should have gone through the second part of qualifying easily, but on the last lap the wind picked up and I lost a lot of time. I had to go about eight tenths faster than it finally was, but after the chicane I lost grip. I hope there is no wind tomorrow.
