Last week residents of Miami Gardens, where the Formula 1 circuit is located, filed a lawsuit to ban the first-ever Miami Grand Prix. Local residents emphasized that exceeding the sound level during the stage “would cause serious inconvenience and personal injury”.
District Judge Alan Fein dismissed the lawsuit, noting that residents can avoid potential harm by using earplugs or staying at home. The judge called the arguments about the noise level “highly speculative, not based on current information about the noise level of Formula 1”.
So nothing threatens to hold the Miami Grand Prix on May 6-8. However, the judge allowed residents to file a claim after the stage was held based on new noise information. So going forward, a lawsuit related to the Miami race is still possible.
