The Italian company Mermec Engineering presented its new development: a system that allows you to register violations of the boundaries of the circuit during motor racing competitions.
The system, based on artificial intelligence technology, was demonstrated in action this week at the Vallelunga circuit in Italy. Its essence is that it analyzes in real time information coming from video cameras installed on the track, records the fact of a violation and sends a short video to the computers of the race management.
Angelo Sticchi Damiani, president of the National Automobile Club of Italy (ACI), described the development as “excellent, innovative and reliable.”
Niccolo Cirroni, head of Mermec Engineering, said during the presentation: “The idea arose during interaction with the race management, who deal with many reports of violations during the race, which are often not supported by objective evidence.”
Formula 1 is also testing similar systems based on the use of artificial intelligence, one of which was already tested during the race weekend in Abu Dhabi last year.
