Formula E will host the Manufacturers’ Cup for the first time

This season, a new classification has appeared in Formula E: the Manufacturers’ Cup, and it will differ from the usual team classification. At the end of each race, the two best results achieved by cars from each manufacturer, used by both factory and customer teams, are taken into account.

Points are not only added up based on race placements, but also points for pole positions and fastest laps.

The eleven EV World Championship teams use equipment from six manufacturers: Electric Racing Technologies, Jaguar, Mahindra Racing, Nissan, Porsche and Stellantis.

A unique trophy will be awarded to the manufacturer with the most points, and the new trophy will be presented at the end-of-season Formula E gala ceremony. In addition, special badges will appear on the winner’s cars, driver helmets and team uniforms next year to commemorate this achievement.

Alberto Longo, co-founder of Formula E and director of the championship: “We are pleased to present the Manufacturers’ Cup, which will be awarded at the end of the 10th season. We have been preparing for this for a long time and this is an important milestone in the development of our championship, as it reflects the competitive spirit that characterizes Formula E.

Our championship is based on equipment manufacturers who continue to push the boundaries of what is possible, develop new technologies and raise environmental standards. Their contribution is extremely important and we are not only talking about shaping the future of motorsport, but also promoting electric technologies on public roads.

The new cup will be a reward for innovative approaches, for contributing to shaping the future, in which much more attention is paid to environmental issues.”

Meanwhile, in Sao Paulo, preparations for the fourth stage of the season are in full swing and Pascal Wehrlein, a driver from the Porsche factory team, will start from pole on the city circuit, which is why he has already secured three points for the team for winning of the qualification, which is taken into account in the Manufacturers’ Cup.
