Fernando Alonso’s sixth and Esteban Ocon’s eighth in France gave the Alpine team a twelve-point lead over McLaren for fourth in the Constructors’ Championship. The team really appreciated the results of the twelfth stage of the season.
Fernando Alonso (6th): “I’m happy with our race today. We did everything right, showed a fast pace and controlled the tire wear. This weekend I had to work a lot on the balance of the car, but in the end I finished just behind the top five – a successful race in which we earned points.
I had a good start and moved up to fifth position but then dropped to sixth, which is probably our usual place in the race. The results show that if we have a clean weekend, we can finish in the top six. I hope we can maintain this level in the second half of the season.”
Esteban Ocon (8th): “The goal was to score points with two cars, and we succeeded! I’m happy with my race – great riding for my fans, who have been incredibly supportive all weekend. Thank them!
The race turned out to be difficult because of the heat, but I enjoyed the fight on the track. We climbed to fourth in the Constructors’ Championship, so we left the track in good spirits and motivated to hold the position.
I hope next year the race will be in France – nothing compares to the home Grand Prix. Thanks to the fans, go Alpine!”
Laurent Rossic, Managing Director: “We are delighted to have earned points in the home race with two cars and deservedly placed fourth in the Constructors’ Championship. We thank our passionate fans for their fantastic support this weekend.
We knew we had excellent opportunities today to earn points with two cars. To do this, it was necessary to start well, which was possible, and then successfully run the race. Fernando performed brilliantly, overtaking Lando Norris at the start, controlling the race and earning eight points for sixth.
Esteban also had a good start, but was awarded a penalty for colliding with Yuki Tsunoda. However, he remained calm and recaptured the advantage. His composure and determination were key to overtaking Daniel Ricciardo for eighth.
Our goals are clear – we must do everything we can to maintain fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship. It won’t be easy, but we need to continue to have a strong weekend and prepare new items, as we did at home in France. This should continue until the end of the season.”
