Before the start of the weekend in Melbourne, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff spoke of hopes for progress in the coming stage…
Toto Wolff: “After Jeddah we worked hard, using the experience from the first two races. The W15 has good potential, but there is certainly room for improvement. We were competitive in the slow and medium-fast corners, but the fast corners remain our weak point.
We try to understand why the results are not as expected. Progress in this area is one of the most important tasks. We hope to take a step forward in Melbourne, this work will determine the direction of further development. It’s great to feel the energy and determination with which our employees work.
We lost points in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. We started every weekend with confidence and worked according to our usual program, but then we couldn’t realize the car’s potential.
Given the intensity of the competition, it is important to maximize the car’s potential every weekend. At Albert Park we get another chance to show what we can do. This is a great track in a beautiful city with passionate and active fans. We look forward to returning to Australia.”
